Through a series of three audio tours, you will discover the rich and engaging history of Bilston Creek Farm dating back to the mid-1800s. When was it settled, and by whom? What was their daily life like? How did the current lavender farm come to be? Immerse yourself in a sea of colorful blooms, inhale the refreshing scent of freshly distilled lavender, all while learning a bit of local history.

During this self-guided audio farm tour you will explore the following:

  • The History of Metchosin and the First Nations that inhabited the area
  • The “modern” history of Bilston Creek Farm that dates back to the mid 1800s
  • Audio excerpts from the personal Diary of Martha Cheney who lived on the farm from 1853-1856
  • The restoration and preservation efforts undertaken by the current owners
  • The varieties of apples in our heritage apple orchard
  • The types of lavender grown at the farm, and how we care for and harvest it
  • The versatility of lavender, and how we incorporate into many of our products

Self-guided audio ours are available year round:

  • Cost: $10.00 + tax
  • Purchase in our farm shop
  • You will receive a QR code to scan for access the three audio files
  • Three audio files: The History of Bilston Creek Farm, Martha Cheney’s Diary, and About Bilston’s Lavender
  • Listen at your leisure as you explore the orchard, meander down the lavender pathway and visit our barn and farm shop
  • Duration of three audio files: approximately 45 minutes
  • Audio tours are included in the price of admission to the Lavender Festival in June, July and August
