Robert Uchida, Violin
Canadian violinist Robert Uchida has been praised for his “ravishing sound, eloquence and hypnotic intensity.” Since 2013, he has served as Concertmaster of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and previously held the same position with Symphony Nova Scotia. A sought-after performer, Robert has appeared with leading orchestras across North America and Europe, including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Flemish Philharmonic. An accomplished educator, he teaches at the University of Alberta and is deeply committed to community outreach through music. Robert performs on a DAWES, de Long Tearse Guadagnini violin.

Paule Préfontaine, Violin
Paule Préfontaine has enjoyed an international musical career spanning more than four decades. Her distinguished orchestral career includes member of the Bergen Philharmonic, as assistant concertmaster, as well as Oslo Philharmonic, National Arts Centre Orchestra, and Tafelmusik. An accomplished chamber musician and educator, she has performed at renowned festivals throughout Canada, Europe, and Ireland, including the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival and Victoria Chamber Music Festival. Since returning to Canada in 2020, Paule performs regularly with the Victoria Symphony, Early Music Vancouver, and Victoria Baroque while continuing her active chamber music career.

David Stewart, Viola
David Stewart’s remarkable career has embraced every facet of the musical world—as performer, concertmaster, educator, conductor, and mentor. He served as Concertmaster of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Manitoba Chamber Orchestra for more than 30 years and taught violin and viola at both the University of Manitoba and the University of Ottawa. His performances have taken him to prestigious venues around the globe, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein, and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. Now residing on Vancouver Island, David continues to support young musicians through his work with Harmony Project Sooke.

Desmond Hoebig, Cello
One of Canada’s most distinguished cellists, Desmond Hoebig was Professor of Cello at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. A prizewinner at major international competitions, including the Munich International Competition and the Tchaikovsky Competition, Desmond has appeared as soloist with leading orchestras throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He has served as Principal Cellist of the Cleveland, Houston, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras and was a member of the Juno Award-winning Orford String Quartet. His chamber music collaborations and festival appearances have made him one of the most respected musicians of his generation.
