Martha Cheney, a settler with the Hudson’s Bay company travelling with her Uncle and his Wife was just 16 years of age when she arrived on Vancouver’s Island in May of 1851. Volume 2 of her diary was found in the farmhouse and covers from 1853 – 1856.
