Buzzapalooza!!

Butterflies, bees, and dragonflies oh my!

Date: Sunday, July 13, 2025
Time: 1:00 – 4:00pm
Fee: included with farm admission to the lavender festival

Join us at Bilston Creek Farm for Buzzapalooza! It’s a celebration of pollinators and other amazing insects at the Summer Lavender Festival. From butterflies and bees to dragonflies and more, these tiny giants knit together the fragrant, lovely world of plants, keeping everything in bloom. In gardens, fields, meadows and forests, insect friends are true treasures who reward our curiosity and care. Come see!

Activities:

  • Insect Foray with Scientists. Meet professional entomologists Darren and Claudia Copley who will introduce us to live insects and show how to find, handle and respect these busy creatures at work.
  • Scavenger Hunt. Hidden around the farm, you can search for 36 local insect heroes rendered in full colour by artists. Find all the pictures to enter a prize draw! Art cards of these insects, a project of the Metchosin Foundation, will be available for sale.
  • Minibeast Costume Contest. Use your imagination to design your own insect costume to wear to Buzzapalooza. Who will you be-e-e? We can’t wait to see! Wings and antennae welcome—homemade/homespun or recycled costumes encouraged. Live music by Mark Bunt will give our “bugs” a chance to jitter ‘n’ groove.

All welcome, great for kids ages 5–12. This event is a collaboration of Bilston Creek Farm, the Metchosin Foundation and Westshore NatureKids.

Bring the family to Bilston Creek Farm for this fun, and educational event!
